The Pinehurst

The Pinehurst is our concept-level design series — four distinct exterior styles built on the same ambitious platform. Each variant combines a single-car garage, dual flexible-use studios, an open kitchen and living area, and a private upper-level master suite into a two-story structure that redefines what an accessory dwelling unit can be. Where our standard plans are ready to permit and build, The Pinehurst represents the upper boundary of what’s achievable — a starting point for homeowners who want something truly custom.

The core layout is shared across all four designs. The main floor integrates a garage bay, a laundry and utility studio, an open-concept kitchen and living area with eating nook and fold-down prep table, and a second studio space that can function as an office, workshop, guest room, or creative space. A built-in dumbwaiter connects both levels, and a spiral staircase keeps the vertical circulation compact. The upper level delivers a private master suite with a full closet, complete bathroom with soaking tub, and a balcony overlooking the property. Concept 5C extends the main floor with a dedicated studio wing that adds a music room or third bedroom — the widest footprint in the series.

What makes each Pinehurst variant distinct is the exterior. The 5A features bold dark board-and-batten with natural timber accents and intersecting gabled rooflines — our most dramatic look. The 5B wraps the same plan in dark timber-frame construction with exposed wood knee braces, reading like a modern mountain lodge. The 5C shifts to warm stucco walls with wood trim and a Mediterranean-meets-modern balcony — the lightest and warmest design in the collection. The 5D combines deep navy siding with timber accents and layered rooflines for the strongest visual statement in the lineup. Every element across all four variants can be customized, scaled, or simplified based on your property, budget, and local permitting requirements.
